Nothing is stopping you except what’s inside

The end of the school year is my favorite time of year. It marks the culmination of hard work, dedication, and growth. I love to celebrate the accomplishments of our students; our graduates are now prepared to take the next step in life, and our new students have learned the skills and confidence to continue their educational journey.

In this edition, we witness how Blackhawks from all walks of life excel when presented with opportunities to grow. Our Distinguished Alumni share their experiences; one man overcomes his fear of failure only to achieve more than he ever thought possible; and a group of students immerse themselves in another culture only to discover something about themselves along the way.

We also learn how SCC is at the forefront of providing fertile ground for personal and professional growth that will result in better health outcomes for our entire region.

Learning and growth are lifelong endeavors that extend well after our traditional school days are over. Every day we have the opportunity to become a better version of ourselves. Fear and self-doubt are powerful challenges to overcome. Yet time and again, we find that once we embark down the path toward change, we were merely holding ourselves back from the potential that was locked away deep inside.

I encourage you to embrace opportunities to grow and learn. You may be surprised by how strong you actually are and who you can become.
