SCC Accessibility Coordinator Angela Mickelson will be honored as Staff Member of the Year by the Iowa Association of Community College Trustees at its annual conference next month. Recipients are selected from nominees submitted by each of Iowa’s 15 community colleges for their outstanding contribution to their organization, their profession, and their students.
In February, SCC and the Burlington Community School District won the 2021 Chamber of Commerce Community Impact of the Year Award for its new Corse Early Childhood Center.
The award celebrates the partnership for its positive impact on the greater Burlington community.
The unique partnership between Burlington Community School District and Southeast Community College provides high-quality child care for families. The $300,000 renovation serves over 200 children. Students in SCC’s early childhood education program use the center as a learning lab where they can hone their skills.
