About 100 area high school students competed for top honors at the Southeast Iowa Skills Throwdown. Students spent the day showing off their talents in auto tech, carpentry, welding, and computer-aided design for a chance to win a scholarship in each category.
SCC’s mentoring program Choosing Healthy Alternatives to Delinquency (CHAD) was awarded a $1,000 Alliant Energy Foundation Grant Award. CHAD creates opportunities for kids to participate in community service projects to develop a strong work ethic and take pride in their achievements.
SCC is accepting applications for its new Honors Program. Designed for achievers with a GPA of 3.5 or higher, the program will enrich student learning and provide transfer opportunities into four-year college honors programs. Learn more at bit.ly/scchonorsprogram.
