SCC’s Zombie Walk took place in October. About 50 zombies and onlookers braved the cold and rain for the annual event. While the weather kept many creepy-crawlies at bay, participants showed incredible creativity as they vied for prizes in a handful of categories.

Nearly 200 racers tackled the Dirty Hawk 5K on October 20. Racers made their way through a course filled with climbing walls, mud pits, tire ladders, and more. The event netted about $4,700 for student clubs.

On October 13 about two dozen students, staff and community volunteers came together to plant 26 trees on the West Burlington campus. They were funded by Alliant Energy and Trees Forever’s Branching Out program, and is the second grant received by the college in as many years. SCC’s outdoor Living Lab now includes 82 trees.
